2 passenger trains in head-on collision in Bavaria, Germany, casualties reported
Two passenger trains collided head-on near the town of Bad Aibling in Bavaria, Germany. One train reportedly derailed as a result of the collision. A preliminary official report suggests that five people were injured, one of them seriously.
A spokesman for local police told AFP that "there were several minor injuries and some serious injuries." It is not yet clear if there have been any fatalities.
Rand Paul suspends 2016 presidential campaign
Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul has suspended his 2016 campaign, the Kentucky senator said in a statement, as cited by Reuters.
"It's been an incredible honor to run a principled campaign for the White House. Today, I will end where I began, ready and willing to fight for the cause of Liberty," Paul said.
"Although, today I will suspend my campaign for president, the fight is far from over. I will continue to carry the torch for Liberty in the United States Senate and I look forward to earning the privilege to represent the people of Kentucky for another term."
It comes just two days after the Iowa caucuses, where Paul finished in fifth place with just 4.5 percent, behind rivals Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, and Ben Carson.

At one point, the man from the left side - now fully clothed - leaves the room and an object falls on his head, seemingly killing him. The clip switches back to the other couple, still going at it, while the caption “Last longer. Go vegan” shows on screen
Active shooter reported at San Diego Naval Medical Center
Naval Medical Center in San Diego has issued an active shooter alert and advised all occupants to " to run, hide or fight." The alert was posted on the center's FB page.
In a Facebook post made at 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Naval medical Center San Diego said that an active shooter was reported “in building #26 at Naval Medical Center San Diego. All occupants are advised to run, hide or fight.”
They advised non-emergency personnel to stay away from the facility.
The San Diego Police Department said that hospital officials reported shots fired on the premises, but details are still unclear. It is not confirmed if there have been any deaths or injuries.
State highway patrol arrived had arrived on the scene.

MiG-31 fighter jet crashes in Siberia, pilots eject safely
A Russian MiG-31 fighter jet has crashed in the Krasnoyarsk region in Siberia, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. The pilots were able to eject safely and no casualties have been reported.
The war plane was not carrying any missiles and did not cause any damage on the ground when it crashed. Preliminary reports say that a technical failure was responsible for the plane going down.

Padma Awards 2016: Rajinikanth, Ajay Devgn, Ujjwal Nikam on list of awardees
On the eve of Republic Day, the government announced the list of recipients of this year’s Padma awards. The awardees include Bollywood actors, media personalities, former politicians, public officials and sportspersons who have made the country proud.
This year, the Padma Bhushan will go to former CAG Vinod Rai, Bollywood actor Anupam Kher and singer Udit Narayan. It will also go to former US Ambassador to India Robert D Blackwill, sportspersons Saina Nehwal and Sania Mirza, and Indu Jain of Bennett, Coleman & Co.
Actor Rajinikanth, media baron Ramoji Rao, former J-K governor Jagmohan and spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will be awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award bestowed by India. It will also be awarded posthumously to Dhirubhai Ambani, who founded Reliance Industries.
Senior lawyer Ujjwal Nikam, actors Ajay Devgn and Priyanka Chopra are on the list of Padma Shri awardees, along with director SS Rajamouli (of Bahubali fame) and Bhojpuri singer Malini Awasthi.
Devgn issued a statement from Bulgaria, where he is currently shooting for his film, Shivaay.
“I feel deeply humbled yet elated to receive such honor from my own country. The announcement today makes it special for me when I’m filming abroad for my new film ‘Shivaay’. I’d like to acknowledge that Padma Samman puts an extra responsibility on me and I promise to serve my country for as long as I can.”

Milos Raonic beat French Open champion Stan Wawrinka 6-4, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
The hard-serving Canadian came into the fourth-rounder winless in four matches against Wawrinka, the 2014 Australian Open champion, and all their results had been close and involving tiebreakers.
Raonic cruised to the first two sets, then watched as Wawrinka attempted to come back from two sets down for the seventh time in his career.
But Raonic broke Wawrinka in the sixth game of the deciding set — when Wawrinka's attempted passing shot went long — giving the Canadian a 4-2 lead.

Two Dead As Car Plunges Into Bristol Canal
Two people have died after a car plunged into a canal in Bristol.
Dozens of emergency crews were called to the scene after the vehicle crashed through a barrier into the Feeder Canal.
Witnesses said the car "sank like a stone".

A major earthquake of magnitude 6.6 struck about 162 km (100 miles) southeast of Malaga, Spain, on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The quake was 33 km deep, the USGS said.
Malayalam actress Kalpana passes away at 51
- Noted Malayalam film actress Kalpana Ranjani, known as Kalpana, died in Hyderabad on Monday (January 25) morning, according to information reaching here. She was 51.
- Kalpana was in Hyderabad for the shooting of a Telugu film. She was brought dead at Apollo Hospitals from her hotel room, where she was found unconscious early morning today. According to Malayala Manorama, the actress suffered a heart attack.
- Kalpana, who had acted in 300-odd films in South Indian languages, had won the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in a Malayalam film in 2012. Sister of film actresses Urvashi and Kalaranjini, Kalpana was known as a comic actress in the industry.
- She had made her debut in the film industry as a child artiste in 1983. Since then, she grew along with the South Indian film industry to become a leading actress.
South Indian actress Kalpana dies at the age of 51
Dubai: Award winning South Indian actress Kalpana, who has acted in over 300 films in Malayalam and Tamil, died in Hyderabad on Monday, according to report.
Kalpana, 51, was in Hyderabad for a film shoot, according to reports. She was found unconcious in her hotel room.
Kalpana, whose full name is Kalpana Ranjini, is the daughter of theatre artists VP Nair and Vijayalakshmi.
The versatile actress made her debut with MT Vasudevan Nair’s 1983 film Manje.
She is recipient of National Award for best supporting actress for her film Thanichalla Njan in 2012.
Kalpana sister’s Urvashi and Kalaranjini are also established actors.
