Finland incident: Police shoot man 'who stabbed several people' in city of Turku
Police in Finland have shot a man who reportedly stabbed several people in the city of Turku.
Witnesses reporting hearing multiple gunshots and seeing at least one person lying lifeless on the ground at the city centre's Puutori market square.
The suspected attacker was arrested after being shot in the leg, police said.
At least two people more people have been injured, according to Finland's national broadcaster Yle.
A reporter at the scene said a body on the ground had been covered.
South-West Finland police tweeted at 4.40pm local time (1.40pm GMT): "Several people stabbed in central Turku. People are requested to avoid the city centre."
They added the suspected attacker had been shot in the leg and taken into custody.
There was no immediate details on casualties.
Witnesses took to social media to tell people to avoid the area.
Jesse Brown said: "I saw the police shoot a man. There was some talk about a knife attack. People were running."

Police said the driver fled on foot from the scene.
The incident has occured at La Rambla de Catalunya, which has now been evacuated.
The area is popular with tourists and is located in the heart of the Spanish city.
One witness said: “Crashing noise. I saw a woman next to me screaming for her kid. Police were very quickly there, officers with guns.
"it was chaos, you couldn’t tell what was happening.
“Police officers were screaming at people to move back. People were seriously injured on the ground. Within 30 seconds police vans, ambulances, officers with guns were arriving.”
Another witness said: “People were running into shops. There was a mini stampede. We've been locked into a church. They've locked the doors. I'm not sure of the person who may have done it has been caught."
He added people have taken refuge in shops and cafes.
Barcelona resident Esther Balboa told Express.co.uk: “The police are telling everyone to keep away from the area and several metro stations have been closed. They haven’t captured anyone yet. It’s an area very popular with tourists. It’s all really shocking.”
Ambulances have rushed to the scene along with police.
Catalan emergency services have asked to close metro and train stations in the area.
